yes. Soy protein is a complete protein with all nine essential amino acids, and it scores at or near the top mark for protein quality, just like whey. Research finds both build muscle about equally with strength training, and soy doesn't change men's hormones. Soy is also plant-based and dairy-free.
Soy gets a lot of side-eye. Let's check what the research actually says.

Myth 1: "Soy isn't a complete protein"
It is. Soy has all nine essential amino acids, the building blocks your body can't make itself. That's rare among plants, which makes soy one of the best protein sources for vegetarians. More ideas: 10 High-Protein Vegetarian Foods in India [Add link]
Myth 2: "Soy messes with men's hormones"
Soy contains isoflavones, plant compounds that look a little like the hormone estrogen. That's where the worry comes from. But a 2021 review of clinical studies, published in Reproductive Toxicology, found soy protein didn't change testosterone or estrogen in men, whatever the amount and however long they ate it.
Myth 3: "Only whey builds muscle"
A 2018 review of nine studies, in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, found that people doing strength training gained similar strength and muscle whether they added soy or whey.
What is soy protein isolate?
It's soybeans with most of the fat and carbohydrate removed, leaving mostly protein. Food makers have used it for decades.
Where DailyKin fits
We chose soy protein isolate for our bowls because it's a complete, plant-based protein. With oats or barley, nuts and seeds, each 75 g pack has 20–22 g of protein.

Quick questions
Is whey bad for you? No. Whey is a good protein too, and both are fine choices. If you avoid dairy completely, check labels: many foods, ours included, contain some milk.
Is soy safe to eat every day? For most people, yes, as part of a varied diet. Skip it if you're allergic to soy, and check with your doctor if you have a thyroid condition.
